Layne Beachley AO is a Freshie local, surfing legend and long-time supporter of Lifeline. During her surfing career, she claimed a remarkable seven World Championship titles, the only surfer in the world to win six titles consecutively. Her path to success was peppered with challenges, including adoption, mental illness, life-threatening injuries, and overcoming failures. Embracing setbacks as opportunities for growth, Layne is honest and determined approach to life and success inspires us all. She’s not only a champion in surfing but also a fierce advocate for equality within the sport, a passionate environmental campaigner, Chair of Surfing Australia and champion for mental wellness. Layne still surfs every day, loves Rosé and her biggest weakness is hot chips.
Kirk Pengilly is an accomplished musician and one of the founding members of INXS. Guitarist, principal backing vocalist and saxophonist, Kirk co-wrote a number of INXS songs including “By My Side” and wrote and produced many b-sides for their single releases. He has been involved in many “outside” projects, including performing on records for other Artists, such as Richard Clapton, The Igniters and Jenny Morris, He has produced records for Sydney band Crash Politics (with Tim Farriss), Lior, Andy Clockwise, Hughie Murray and the band Coo, which featured Kirk’s brother Drew on vocals. Outside of music, he has worked with a number of Charities as an Ambassador, most notably Movember, The Eye Foundation and Glaucoma Australia.
Thanks to Pilu at Freshwater, you’ll be able to enjoy a three-course menu with drinks for two people dining mid-week at the phenomenal foreshore restaurant in Freshwater accompanied by Layne Beachley and Kirk Pengilly (exact dates to be mutually agreed between parties). Giovanni and the kitchen team take great care in sourcing the best of local, seasonal ingredients and when required, the highest quality products from Italy. The menu is typically Sardinian, re-interpreted using modern techniques whilst remaining true to tradition and regionality. The successful bidder can also bring up to four more guests, however all meals and drinks would be an additional expense.

The highest bid will win the item. Bids placed by participants are binding, with losing bids requiring no payment. Payment of winning bid to be made within 24 hours of end of auction, otherwise next highest bidder will be offered the chance to purchase the item.
Prize includes: mid-week dining only on Wednesday-Friday at Pilu at Freshwater. Voucher cannot be used from 1 November 2023 to 31 January 2024 inclusive. Voucher is not combinable with any other offer. Voucher is valid for one year from end of auction (11 October 2023). Prize includes 3-course menu for 4 people (Layne and Kirk plus prize winners) plus drinks up to $200 – Pilu at Freshwater to finalise menu, dietary requirements will be catered for if advised in advance. Extra guests (up to 4 extra, totalling 8 diners) may be invited by winning bidder, however all food and drink for extra participants will be charged directly. Prize is not transferrable or redeemable for cash.
